Turn up the heat with chillies!
Capsicum varieties are ‘hot, hot, hot’ and include sweet peppers, cayenne peppers, ornamental & seriously real chillies.
Capsicums offer a small, indoor pot option that is fun, vibey AND edible!
Spicy ‘hot peppers’ need sunlight to produce fruit. Once the chillies are in bud, they do well on windowsills, patio’s and any location next to window’s with ample light. The taste and ‘heat’ of the peppers varies according to varieties – jalapeno & cayenne peppers are seriously hot whilst many ornamental capsicums are grown for purely ornamental purposes.
Depending on the variety, the peppers appear in shades of white, purple, red, orange, and yellow – often with multiple colors on the same plant. They like rich, well-drained soil and are thirsty plants – be sure to keep the soil moist and don’t allow the plants to dry out.
Chillies make great gifts! They are small, versatile and easy-to-grow. There are many ways to customize and ‘spice-up’ chillies to fit into corporate themes & events. I know it’s really early … but they are super popular for Valentines Day too!
