An unusual & stunning ‘easy-to-care for’ indoor colour option for winter.
The Cyclamen’s exquisite blooms are cheerful and fun! They twist and turn like butterfly wings – hence the common names ‘Butterfly Flower’ or ‘The Upside Down Flower’. Their leaves are round, large and green with silver marbling and accentuate the striking flowers; lavender, rose, maroon, red, white, often bi-colour and sometimes with frilly edges.
Caring for your cyclamen:
Cyclamen do not like heat. Do not expose them to temperatures below 4 °C or higher than 25 °C. Position in bright, indirect light. Cyclamen are a little fussy when it comes to watering… It’s best to let the soil dry out between watering, but do not allow the plant to wilt. Watering is best done from the bottom – Dandylion recommends standing the plant in a shallow bath of water overnight, once a week.

In South Africa Cyclamen bloom during Autumn and Winter. They become dormant during the hot, dry summers, their foliage yellows and dies back showing no signs of growth. Position in a shaded area outdoors over this time and water as you would the other plants in this area. Their round tubers store energy over this time and they’ll start growing again the next Autumn.
