Lovely Lobelia – seedling of the month, March

There are very few flowers that can match the true blue of Lobelia.

The delicate small flowers of Lobelia come in light to dark blue, as well as white and dark pink. They grow almost anywhere… in full sun or semi shade and like loose, gritty soil.

When nothing else seems to grow, give Lobelia a try (but take note, they dont tolerate heavy frost).

There are also trailing Lobelias, which have a more cascading habit and suitable for hanging baskets, window boxes and for softening edges of raised beds.

Lobelia are best planted with a mixture of other colour annuals. They fill open spaces and add a soft, delicate touch to containers, window boxes and flower beds.
